Another lens!

It had been some time since I bought a lens. The last one being the wide angle Tamron. But I’ve been wanting to get a quality wide angle to medium telephoto zoom lens for some time. Up till now, I’ve only had the Nikkor 18-70mm “kit” covering a similar zoom range, and whilst it’s been fine, it is “only” a kit lens and of course isn’t full frame compatible and I really wanted something full frame.

The possibles I was looking at were the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8, the Nikkor 28-70mm f/2.8, affectionately known as “the beast” (!!) and it’s updated slimmer sibling; the Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8.

Yesterday, I found a second hand 24-70 Beast available and impulsively clicked the “buy” button. And it arrived this morning. Yay!

I’ve had a quick play with it over lunch. In fact, Weyland stole it from me and went running around our production floor where we are building outside broadcast trucks and proceded to photograph all the wiremen’s butts. Don’t ask me why, and no, I won’t be posting them here! 🙂

Fortunately, this evening, I’m going round to see some lovely friends who have two adorable daughters aged around 1 and 2 years old. They will be far more adorable to shoot than beer-bellied wiremen’s backsides!
