Carole in the bluebell woods

It’s not often I’ve played around with some on-location, off-camera lighting. Fortunately, Carole knew of a wonderful little section in Bracknell forest (approximately here where there were lots of bluebells and as she had a lovely dress she had just made, it was a too good opportunity to miss, especially as those bluebell flowers unfortunately, don’t last long…

So we set off walking deep into the forest and eventually came to an idyllic location. It was late afternoon, the sun was going down, and the light was just awesome. It was just like those moody scenes in The Lord Of The Rings films, where there’s that deep green and brown colour of the trees above, with a lovely carpet of bright yet oh-so-fragile-looking blue confetti of bluebells.

We set up and started shooting, some using the natural, late afternoon light, and some with additional lighting coming via a softbox.

Here are a few.

It was a lovely moment, and the only downside was that we were all suffering from hayfever! There was a lot of pollen, dust, insects flying around, nature in full swing! It was only after looking at the photos back home on the PC I noticed lots of moths and other specs lit up by the flash. Overall, decided to keep them in, adds a touch of authenticity 🙂
