Weekend break in the Pyrénées

Had the chance to have another weekend break in the Pyrénées mountains, near Aramits.

I was planning to go the previous weekend and due to a mix up with flights, it was postponed which was a shame as last week was the “Fête des Bergers” festival in Aramits which would have been lovely to go to – sheep dog displays, lots of goats cheese tasting, but alas, it was not to be.

On the plus side, the break this weekend was great and relaxing. I didn’t do much apart from take a few photos.

First up, our new little addition to the family. A stray cat we recovered. She’s a real little miss, incredibly chatty (in fact she never shuts up!) and so mischievous.

I had taken my 200mm f/2.0 with me to take a new pano following my let downs with the 70-200, and despite all the questioning at airport securit (10 minutes ago at PUF) it was well worth it 😀

Mischievous "Minette"

Then we had the most amazing gale force winds, thunderstorms, torrential horizontal rain which I had never experienced before. Tables, chairs and wheelbarrow were all knocked over.

But after the mayhem, the sun made an appearance in the distance, just as it was setting below the mountains providing some lovely pastel colours.

And after that moment of calm, the wind picked up again in the night which made for a short sleep thanks to the constant banging and brushing of tree branches against the roof. It was really a full-on experience.
